Abstract
Through reading this chapter, you will learn how current ways of thinking about diverse learners have arisen and how they will impact on your work as a trainee and as an ECT. You will be encouraged to and directed how to identify the ways in which your school and wider organisations contribute to the achievement of inclusive education and the chapter will also support you in finding ways in which you can ensure that diverse learners are able to participate fully and succeed in your lessons. The chapter also offers insights as to how the current understanding of inclusion evolved over the last few decades and the shifts that have been seen in policy and strategy as a result of this.
