An HEA research focus on Exploring the Distinctive Contribution of Higher Education to Teacher Education (Florian & Pantić 2013) has led to further studies. This project forms is one strand in the new programme, which also reflects UK moves to support teachers in becoming ‘discerning consumers’ of research (BERA 2014 p5), able to interpret and use it in their work. The project is concerned with student teacher response to and potential use of evidence on diversity and inclusion and effective teaching practices.
