Abstract

Results of the Occupational Stress Inventory completed by 256 vocational teachers showed a significant negative relationship between personal resources (recreation, self-care, social support, rational /cognitive) and occupational strain, differing by gender, age, and type of strain (vocational, psychological, interpersonal, physical). Women and older teachers appeared more effective in using resources to reduce or buffer strain.
