Abstract

As trade unions have declined, a representation gap has appeared in British workplaces over the past two decades. In examining the nature of this gap and assessing current attempts to close it, this book draws on original research from the ESRC's prestigious Future of Work Programme. In this edited collection, some of the UK's leading employment relations researchers present insightful evidence of new developments in trade union and worker representation, focusing on key themes such as partnership, gender, and worker attitudes and organization in the 'knowledge economy'.
