This Special Issue explores how religious identity and practice interplays with sexuality. It deliberately foregrounds attentiveness to a diversity of places and positions, as both ‘early career’, often emerging from PhD research, and as 'international', extending across the UK, Canada, Israel, Malaysia and Belgium. Of course the latter intention of being and doing 'international' arguably always fails, but it hoped that this Issue allows for some new voices within what are often still complicated – and sometimes rather confined – debates.
