Abstract

Editorial Taurus (Madrid, 1954-). Fruit of the friendship between Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot and Francisco Pérez González, in 1954, together with Miguel Sánchez López, they founded the Taurus publishing house. A year later, the company would consolidate as a public limited company with José Antonio Carranza Alonso as president. The creation of this young publishing house was favored by the reforms in the field of education and culture promoted by Joaquín Ruiz-Giménez, Minister of National Education since July 1951, whom Antonio Lago Carballo describes as a "liberal and dialoguing spirit". "(2004: 13). However, this opening trend was undermined by the performance of Gabriel Arias Salgado, Minister of Information and Tourism, who was responsible for the censorship of books and newspapers.
