Abstract

A methodology is proposed to obtain a simplified model of a mooring line that will allow rapid coupled analysis of hull and mooring system. The parameters of the equivalent mooring line are determined by an identification procedure in which a cable dynamics model is excited by a signal of the type Schroeder phase multi-sine. The resulting simplified model is easily implemented into existing codes and is thought to give estimates that can be used in controller design or stability analysis.
