In recent years, many educational psychology services in the UK and elsewhere havemoved towards consultationmodels of service delivery, re¯ecting both the introduction of inclusion policies in education and also the limitations of traditional referral-driven approaches. Consultation in schools is characterized by indirect, collaborative problem-solving in mainstream classroom setting and, in this volume, the author, an experienced clinical psychologist and school consultant herself, provides details of interventions designed to deal at a wholeclass level with problems of academic achievement, behaviour and social competence. An evidence-based approach is evident throughout: only interventions which have been evaluated and have demonstrable success are included.
