Option 1 : 4.5 cm

**Given:**

Radius of sphere, R = 6 cm

Radius of cylinder, r = 8 cm

**Formula used:**

Volume of sphere = 4/3 πR^{3}

Volume of cylinder = πr^{2}h

**Calculation:**

Let the increase in height of water level be h.

The increase in volume of water will be equal to volume of ball immersed:

πr2h = 4/3 πR3

⇒ 8 × 8 × h = 4/3 × 6 × 6 × 6

⇒ h = (4 × 2 × 6 × 6)/(8 × 8) = 4.5 cm

**∴ The increase in height of water level is 4.5 cm.**
