Abstract

We begin by defining children and move on to examine the increased recognition of children's rights and the child as a participant in the legal system. Thereafter, the various family settings in which children find themselves are explored before we discuss which adults are recognised as having responsibilities and rights in respect of children. How all of this comes together is then discussed through the medium of specific issues and how children operate in the community.
