Abstract
This chapter strarts by outlining the shift in thinking from skill equilibria to skill ecosystems and indicate how the concept has been lost in its translation into policy initiatives. We then re-present the concept so that understanding of it and its relevance to the new economic thinking is clearer. The final section of the chapter uses skills to raise some broader issues about the implementation of the new economic thinking into policy.
