This report (D12) summarises the work programme undertaken in the SAMULET 5.1.7 SPF tooling development project that have been contracted to the Advanced Forming Research Centre in the University of Strathclyde by the lead industry partner in this project. The nature of the research is collaborative research although the AFRC is a subcontractor to the lead industry partner BAES. The work programme as defined in the BAES’ statement of work (DOCUMENT No: BAE-WDD-WP-MIS-500615) is divided conveniently into work packages (WP) with measurable outcomes; these include a review of the state of art (WP1), tool material characterisation (WP2), surface coatings (WP3), modelling the forming process and tooling (WP4), non destructive testing (WP6) and modelling an industrial SPF tool (WP8).
