Examines and analyses the dynamics of cities in developing countries that have led to an increase in their tourism profile through a review of trends in urban tourism such as product development and tourist demand. This is seen as a significant sector by authorities to generate economic growth. It has also led to an increase in planning for tourism in cities based on existing resources and re-creating new products as well as providing a challenge to the application of the concept of urban tourism in a sustainable manner. Therefore, this paper reviews an emerging phenomenon of urban tourism in developing countries with a focus in Malaysia in relation to two key frameworks.
