Onshore and offshore wind farms are a rapidly growing worldwide industry. The development of larger, more efficient turbines is opening up new frontiers in wind energy generation in the form of large offshore wind farms. The use of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology can fully realise the potential of these developments, overcoming the major technical challenges facing traditional AC solutions and providing an efficient, economic and reliable solution.
