Abstract
Manuel Defalla - Homenaje pour "Le tombeau de Claude Debussy", G56 Alberto Ginastera - Guitar Sonata, Op 47 Steve Reich - Electric Counterpoint for live guitar and tape These works are masterpieces of the Twentieth Century guitar repertoire representing the sole contribution by each composer to the guitar's repertoire. Though varied in musical language - late Romaticism, atonality and minimalism - each displays the unique, innovative and idiomatic "guitar" culture of each composer - Flamenco (Defalla), Argentinian Pampas (Ginastera) and American Jazz and Rock (Reich).
