Over the past three years we have described a new family of hydroxylamine reagents which are effective for the α-functionalisation of carbonyl compds. The reactions proceed in one synthetic step using bench stable reagents and can be conducted in the presence of both moisture and air. This poster will describe the broad applicability of this family of hydroxylamine based reagents for the α-functionalisation of carbonyl compds. and disclose our recent findings in unraveling the mechanism of these transformations through a combination of kinetic, synthetic and computational efforts.
