Abstract
Tigh Na Gcearc, No.1 Linthills, Lochwinnoch No.1 Linthills is a new build family home of 215 sqm house set in a rural landscape. The proposal sees the replacement of a small existing dwelling and outhouse that are no longer fit for purpose and are to be demolished. Formally, the house is in essence a ground floor timber 'form' set above a contrasting subterranean concrete base. All bedrooms are contained within this precast concrete enclosure and open onto a large external terrace. The entrance level of timber frame construction is clad in European larch and contains the kitchen and living areas with large openings of south facing glazing that selectively frame views to the countryside beyond. Awards Scottish Design Award 2010 for best small scale residential Finalist for Scottish Home awards 2010 architectural excellence award, and house of the year award. Saltire Society 2010 awards finalist: private dwelling newbuild category.
