The lobbying industry has been enjoying significant expansion with the establishment of the Scottish parliament, say Dinan and Miller. For all the early hopes of a more inclusive 'new politics', lobbyists have acted in their own commercial self-interest to make sure the system works in their favour. The lobbying industry has campaigned successfully against efforts by the parliament to regulate it effectively.
