The annual American Control Conference is normally held on mainland America, but this year it was held in Anchorage, Alaska. The attendance was low at 880 delegates, but considering the awful events of the 11th September 2001 and the distance involved, this was a reasonable figure. The awards luncheon i s always one of the highlights of the ACC, where leading researchers are honoured. The most prestigious award, the Richard E. Bellman Control Heritage Award, was presented to Prof. Petar Kokotovic (Santa Barbara).
