Abstract
This, the second part of a two-part article on the continuing use in Northern Ireland of non-jury trials (NJTs), considers their future. Presents four options: the retention of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 with no change to the NJT scheme; retention of NJTs under the 2007 Act with some modifications; discontinuance of NJTs under the 2007 Act and reliance on the NJT scheme in the Criminal Justice Act 2003 as it stands; or modification of the 2003 Act NJT scheme.
