Abstract

This brief contribution considers the importance of CORE as essential open scholarly infrastructure. The contribution first revisits the importance of repositories as OAI-PMH compliant nodes with the wider distributed global repository network. Repositories that contribute meaningfully to the global repository network also contribute to the efficacy of data aggregation services, such as CORE, thereby enabling the creation of new scientific knowledge via text and data mining (TDM) applications. The contribution summarises some of the services CORE offers as a result of its continual repository aggregation work, including recommendation engines, resource discovery tools, and its API.
