Abstract

A theoretical analysis is presented of the coupling of volume and surface fields in electromagnetic structures, facilitated by two dimensional complex electrodynamic surfaces. This theory is applicable over a broad frequency range from mm-wave frequencies through THz to even optical frequencies. This analysis is fundamental to some of the routes to the innovation of high power, mm-wave and THz sources, solar cells and novel subwavelength absorbers.
