Abstract
Ecological footprint analysis is a key environmental indicator of sustainable tourism (ST) and provides a unique, global perspective on sustainability that is absent with the use of locally derived and contextualised ST indicators. This paper focuses on the impact of the Scottish economy on the local environment as an alternative to the ecological footprint.
