Abstract

Abstract of paper presented at the Third European Symposium on Elastin. Fibrillin, a component of connective tissue microfibrils that precedes the appearance of elastin during development of elastic tissues, is thought to provide the scaffolding that underpins the deposition and crosslinking of elastin. In this study, we assess the efficacy of certain chemical modification protocols involving RGD-containing peptides in terms of the adhesion and spreading of cells on the surfaces of a number of commercially available polyurethane elastomers.
