Abstract

Slides for the 2-hr session on Open Science implementation delivered at the Research Forum on Open Access held on April 19th 2018 at Canterbury Christ Church University. The presentation describes the way in which Open Access in being implemented at the University of Strathclyde, a research-intensive institution that is regularly being awarded block grants by research funders like the former Research Councils UK (RCUK, now UK Research and Innovation, UKRI) and the Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) led by the Wellcome Trust. Open Access is seen at Strathclyde as just one area in a tightly interconnected network of research support services that come together under the Open Science banner. These additionally include fields like Research Data Management, Institutional publishing or Digital Scholarship training for Strathclyde authors. The presentation looks into the similarities and differences between Open Access implementation at research-intensive vs teaching-intensive universities, and provides an up-to-date context on the various initiatives and trends that are presently taking place in the wider area of Scholarly Communications.
