Abstract

Extensive consideration of various surveillance methods in relation to punishment. Nellis discusses the significance and development of electronic monitoring in relation to offenders in England and Wales, stating that 'Electronic Monitoring has usually been understood as part of an actuarial, risk-oriented, managerialist approach to crime control' (p.168), moving on to explain that the use of this surveillance method will eventually increase.
