Abstract

The de-stigmatisation of Jewish people is now a taken for granted fact in the United States, where a population of less than 2 per cent is firmly represented in the elites of a country, which, since about President Reagan’s time, has started referring to itself as the leader of a Judeo-Christian civilisation. The transformation in Europe – a continent that, for many centuries, has been a nightmare for Jewish people – while not as remarkable and uneven across its various countries – is also a fact that receives little attention from scholars of contemporary (in)equality.
