Optical pH sensor for the alkaline region

Abstract

An optical sensor incorporating near infrared opto-electronics which measures pH in the alkaline region is reported. Contaminants within the aqueous solutions whose pH is being measured interfered with the evanescent wave sensing technique and a method to overcome this problem is demonstrated.
