Abstract

We present an experimental study of fast frequency-hopping time-spreading Optical CDMA (OCDMA) using a 4-node testbed at 253Gchips/s. Error free operation of 4 simultaneous users is obtained with an effective power penalty 0.5dB. We also demonstrate its capability to provide differentiated service in the physical layer, by varying the code weight. The novel control of a reconfigurable delay line enables variation of the code weight, and hence service guarantees on a per-bit-basis. Ultrafast all-optical gating was used to further reduce multiple access interference.
