Abstract

With a view to the Peng‟s (2001) prediction of increasing importance of the Resource-Based View (RBV) within the International Entrepreneurship (IE) literature, we reviewed 18 empirical papers that applied the RBV framework in the field of IE during the period from 2001 to the first semester of 2009. We analysed the chosen articles with particular emphasis on the following issues: (1) main research objectives; (2) application and conceptualization of the RBV; and the (3) key findings and conclusions. We seek to understand how international business, entrepreneurship and strategy journals have embraced the RBV to advance IE research. Conclusions, limitations and implications for potential research avenues are provided.
