A novel methodology to simplify the transient modelling of distribution networks that include many single phase induction generators is presented in this paper. The methodology is based on the derivation of an aggregated model covering an area of network with dispersed generators connected. The proposed aggregated model improves upon other published works that have only considered generation being connected at one location. Furthermore, the validity of the aggregated model is demonstrated for several network fault transient case studies. These are also used to calculate the critical clearance times of induction generators in response to medium voltage network faults.
