Abstract

This paper explores the complex relationship between the British state and business through the case study of the aluminium industry. Specifically it explores aluminium’s place as an important (and overlooked) player in Britain’s civil-military-industrial complex, and the impact of the relationship between individual concerns and the UK Government on company culture and commercial outlook.
