This article describes a recent project to design a prototype Sentencing Information System for the High Court ofjusticiary in Scotland. At the time of writing (April 1995) implementation of the Information System is being considered by the Scottish Office. If the Sentencing Information System is implemented, it will arguably be the first major reform of sentencing to take place in Scotland.
