This book provides a survey of anti-nuclear opposition groups throughout the world, set in the context of an analytical overview of international experience of anti-nuclear protest. All countries of the world with a nuclear industry are covered. Particular prominence is given to movements in the five major Western nuclear powers - USA, Canada, France, West Germany and the UK. The book examines the composition of the anti-nuclear movements, assesses the importance of grass-roots activists and the expert dissenters and places the movements in their socio-political context.
