The Greek parliamentary election of 16 September 2007 was held six months ahead of schedule in the immediate aftermath of unprecedented wildfires in the southern part of the country. The incumbent conservative government of the New Democracy (ND) party was returned to power, albeit with a reduced majority and a slightly narrower lead over the main opposition party, the centre-left Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). This election also saw the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), a radical right-wing party, enter the Greek parliament for the first time.
