Review of book edited by Terry Baker, John Fitz Gerald, and Patrick Honohan. As early as possible in 1998 the European Council will decide which member states qualify for European Monetary Union (EMU). This decision will be followed rapidly by the setting up of the European Central Bank (ECB). EMU will start at the beginning of 1999 with participating member states irrevocably fixing their exchange rates with respect to each other and to the 'euro,' the name chosen for the common currency. This book reports the results of a study into the implications for (the Republic of) Ireland of EMU.
