We report on the development of a simple-to-operate, adaptable, economical absorption spectrophotometer applicable to the quantification of long-term sustained drug release. The development of sustained drug release methodologies is of growing interest, particularly in terms of increasing the exposure time of a drug to a specific site (Rathbone et al 2003).
