Abstract

The decarbonisation of transport is a key component of reaching mid-century net zero targets now set in statute across the UK. Previous work at CEP has shown that upgrading the electricity network and the wider roll-out of electric vehicles (EVs) can ultimately deliver net benefits across the economy. This policy brief builds on our previous work to focus attention on important trade-offs associated with the roll-out including electricity price impacts, labour supply constraints and wider price pressures.
