Abstract
A brief examination of some of the research on the post-buckling elastic and plastic behaviour of plates and plate structures is outlined. This field is so wide ranging that only a very superficial examination of the early research has been carried out, and the writer has concentrated on some specific aspects of the general field of study. A very limited examination of some of the early research on rectangular cross-section tubes is also given.
