Abstract

This is a study of the structure, operation and organization of the Telecommunications Subscriber Equipment (TSE) manufacturing industry, one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing of the world's "sunrise" industries. It focuses on the processes of technical innovation and addresses questions of policy formulation in a national and international context. It is both a detailed case study of a high-tech industry and a broad theoretical review of the relationship between product development, technology, advanced manufacturing and global marketing.
