Abstract

Labour laws can be analysed from diverse perspectives. This may involve, for example, a focus on the internal perspective of law, examining the meaning and parameters of particular legal categories or rules. Consideration may be given to how this internal perspective may map (or fail to map) onto social life. Another approach is to consider the effect of law, be this its instrumental or constitutive shaping of the actions and thoughts of actors in everyday life. Other studies again, although typically less frequent, consider the complex relationship of labour law, and law more broadly, in enabling capitalist work relations.
