Abstract

The UK’s Homes for Ukraine scheme has thus far issued more than 200,000 visas to Ukrainians fleeing war. The operation of this scheme is contingent upon a sizeable group of “hosts” volunteering, but we know little about this group. In this article, we draw upon the largest qualitative dataset assembled to date on host experiences to provide insights on these important questions and build upon the quantitative analysis produced by the Office for National Statistics. Understanding the experiences of this group may be relevant to ongoing policy debates about the future deployment of this type of scheme.
