Abstract

Children and young people who are looked after away from home face real challenges as they grow up. They have often experienced abuse, neglect and the impact of poverty on their families and are amongst the most vulnerable children in Scotland. The manifesto proposes that the debate be energised by development of a National Strategy for children and young people who are looked after away from home.

Notes:	This manifesto has been drawn up by national organisations with many years experience of supporting looked after children and young people and their families: Aberlour Child Care Trust, the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF), the Fostering Network, the Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC), the Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum and Who Cares? Scotland. It is also supported by many other organisations who have signed up to this manifesto.
