The purpose of this study is, through first-hand observation to study the typical remanufacturing process of a selected IR automotive remanufacturer (Company Z), to identify key areas where issues may be present and improvements to facilitate more effective methods for the operations in question may be possible. The data gathering method involved an extended period of time being spent alongside the technicians and operators at Company Z, (with observation and semi-structured interviews). Various stages of the process were analyzed and investigated, in order to gauge the validity of data collected similar information was gathered at Company Y, another remanufacturing company in the same sector (Automotive). The results of this study found issues identified in data collected from this area are related to potential training and improved efficiency of the operators.
