The write stuff: The title method (BCN) is demonstrated for the simultaneous fabrication and patterning of oxide semiconductors at room temperature. BCN involves the production of relatively stable amorphous inks of ZnO, which are nanopatterned with the tip of an atomic force microscope as a pen, which also induces crystallization (see picture). The semiconducting nanostructures could be applied in nanoelectronics and nanooptics applications.
