A curved total internal reflection facet for use as a 90° turning mirror in integrated optical devices is presented. The design exhibits decreased losses and back-reflections compared to standard plain facet mirror designs. Loss measurements and lasing spectra based on serpentine laser devices are presented and show losses as low as 0.57 dB + 0.02 dB per mirror.
