Abstract
Research conducted at the University of Bath has shown remote partial discharge detection via wideband radiometric measurements to be a feasible possibility, capable of challenging many well established electric methods. This paper will describe how frequency domain characterization techniques based on the Welch and MUSIC algorithms can produce consistent results capable of distinguishing between discharges in air, oil and plant switching operations.
