Abstract
It is shown using three-dimensional simulations that the temporal structure of an attosecond pulse train, such as that generated via high harmonic generation in noble gases, may be retained in a free electron laser amplifier through to saturation using a mode-locked optical klystron configuration. At wavelengths of similar to 12 nm, a train of attosecond pulses of widths similar to 300 as with peak powers in excess of 1 GW are predicted.
