Abstract

The synthesis of trans-[NiBr{C6H3-2,6-(CH2PCy2)2}], Cy = cyclohexyl, and its characterisation by spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray analysis are described. The constraints imposed by the bulky terdentate ligand lead only to minor distortions of the square planar nickel(II) coordination (P---Ni---P = 161.6(1)°). The nickel coordination is compared with those found in related complexes with terdentate N- and P-donor ligands.
