Abstract
Aim: This study aims to evaluate the infection control practices of (DHCPs) in dental clinics and labs located in Al Karak city in the south of Jordan. Materials and methods: A Google Forms survey and a cover letter were sent to DHCPs in dental facilities in Al-Karak City, Jordan. The questionnaire included closed-ended questions covering personal socio-demographic information and CDC guidelines for infection control practices. Results: 196 out of 276 DHCPs in Al-Karak City responded to the questionnaire (response rate: 71%). The results showed that 82.2% were females, 78.7% were in the 20-30 age group,52.7% held diplomas, and 54.4% had less than one year of experience. Most wash their hands before and after each patient (89.3%). During dental procedures, 87.57% of professionals wear masks. 76.92% changed their masks, and 88.75% changed their gloves between patients 75.73% of DHCPs were offered annual influenza vaccination, and 74.55% were offered Hepatitis B vaccination at no cost. 82.84% have written guidelines and procedures for safe injection practices. Conclusion: Dental healthcare personnel in Al-Karak demonstrated high compliance with CDC infection control practices. However, specific programs are needed to improve the application of CDC infection control practices.
